It is sad when 25 feels warm...

I saw the news about Atlanta. Had to laugh a little. My wife has relatives in Texas and they told us that when they get snow and ice they honestly can't do anything about it. They have like 1 or 2 sand trucks for the entire city of Dallas I believe. So it does shut them down. Here we are prepared for it with an army of trucks.

I can remember when I lived in boise--the whole county that boise is part of only had 3 plows--and when we got snow they had to plow the interstate, the city was left to fend for itself. (and they dont use salt there--only sawdust, which is actually quite slippery!).

so today we had temps in the 20's and no snow, a nice change of pace (supposed to have snow for the rest of the week and into the weekend and then, yes cold again.)

is it april yet?

This morning, the weather man said that Spring in just six weeks away. I hope they go faster than the six weeks behind us.

The house is ours. Probate finally over. Just waiting for the lawyer to finalize paperwork.

Been staying here 9 months, feeling like home. The utilities are much cheaper than the old place. Taxes are similar. Cheaper living here. We are seeing ways to make it even cheaper.

Once the bitter cold moves on, we will get started sorting, shedding, and moving what is left at the old place.

We had temps in the 30's and snow. With lots of wind. Yay... More snow called for tomorrow and Saturday. Joyful.

If it is cheaper living, I'm all for it. I'm pretty cheap I would say...

paying less is always a nice thing ...if you get at least what you had been its even nicer. Glad things are working out for you.

more snow...not as cold...what's with this winter its either below zero or snowing? My sister said it is one of the snowiest winters on record where she lives, think we are close here too...hope the rodent sees his shadow tomorrow (2nd)...think I have had enough of winter for this year (hawaii is really looking good right now-------)

oh and happy chinese new year--its my year--horse!!! (and got me a mini out of my first bunch of fortunes ingame too )

Paying less is the reason I wish we had moved to my apartment instead of my wifes place. Oh well. This place has central air. So we have that, which is awesome.

We got a fair amount of snow yesterday. Made my commute home almost 45 minutes long instead of the normal 25 because people saw snow and started going 35 instead of 55... Oh well.

It is chinese new year now? huh. Cool. Horse. I'll have to remember that. Might be a trivia question.

yeah, you would think by now that peeps who live in the northern part of the country would remember this SNOW stuff...but NOOOOO....so yeah, I can understand the longer driving time since we, like, havent seen snow in like, ya'know..days like-----

well at least you have only one rent to pay each month (instead of each having a separate one before you got married).

and...its february already!

It is the same way when it rains. It's like they have never seen this wet stuff before so we have to drive really slow. Oh well...

Ya, it is cheaper when you look at it that way. Plus I do really like the central air here. Much better than a window mounted unit.

Well today I get the pleasure of clearing between 1-2 feet of snow from behind our cars. Our place likes to plow all of the snow right behind us. It's great.

not just your place...our lovely town likes to do the same thing--plow all of the snow back into the driveways that were just nicely shoveled out (ours has the added bonus of being the end driveway so now we have a snow pile about 4' tall at the end of ours!).

well look at it this way--you dont have to do any additional exercising then today!

Ya I know it is other places as well. But in an apartment complex very few people seem to have actual shovels. Until today, when I went out and bought a shovel, I was using a tiny one that is supposed to be in cars. You think they would be a bit more careful. Oh well.

Yup definitely got my exercising in today. Took me 2 hours.

and you will probably be sore for a bit (not the same muscles we use doing much else it seems).
groundhog ---saw his shadow ...so as we had already known---6 more weeks (at least) of winter.....seems the rodent only has not seen his shadow like 17/100...not very good odds for an early spring.

Ya probably will be. Oh well. They were calling for 8-12 inches of snow tomorrow, then 6-8, now 1-3. So who knows.

Yup the groundhog here saw her shadow as well. And since 1993 she has predicted it correctly 14 times. So it is looking like another 6 week of winter might just happen...

Getting ready for the end of the world here. Forecasters are calling for 5 to 10 inches of snow during the day Teusday. I made a grocery run at 9:00 this morning. It was a mad house at that time. The wife took her mom this afternoon, and she said it was elbow to elbow crowds at Price Choppers and Walmart.

The last time we had that much snow at the old place, we were snowed in for three days. It took the National Guard to dig out the roads. I hope it is a whole lot better here in town. Some schools are already closing, and the snow is at least 12 hours away.

The oldest son has a job interveiw Tuesday morning. Him and the kids are staying the night to avoid driving the 26 miles for it. Guess we will see how everyones' nerves hold out in case of being snowed in. 4 adults and 4 kids in this small place will be a test.

Very cold today. Not like super cold, but cold. Was like -15 on my way in to work today.

5-10 inches is going to take them that long to dig out? What state do you live in again? Because that definitely sounds like a southern state that doesn't know how to deal with that.

Hope the snow isn't as bad as they predicted for you and that you guys are all okay there!

good luck--hope you have a generator too.

Ya Northern Australia is probably hotter than heck right now. I'm okay with the cold. You can always put more on. At some point it no longer is socially acceptable to take off more clothes.

They have us set for 4-8 inches today through tonight. Plus the winds causing lots of drifting. Will make things interesting.

Australia....The only country outside the U.S. that I am interested in visiting.

Forecasted snow totals are now up to 12" locally, with some winds blowing it around. Suppose to start here around 7:00 this morning and end sometime overnight.

The wife got a call from her boss, the hospitol will be running a skeleton crew and she has to be there. She was told to bring clothes for an overnight stay, just in case. Her boss is not part of the skeleton crew. Gotta love it.

Where we were snowed in were county roads, gravel. The county trucks were personally owned 4x4's and there isn't much they could do vs. 6 and 8 ft drifts across roads. The National Guard used huge bulldozers to open the roads.

The weather, in and around the Kansas City. MO area, can be very crazy.
